from what i can gather, the reason they do this is that during world war 1 the scottish farmers needed daylight in the mornings to increase their yield, or something like that, and its stuck with us to this day

Yes, you're right, it was last night.

The 'Farmers thing' is one of the reasons splodge, but I was listening to a Radio debate last week and it's also because the accident rates went up when the darker nights closed in.  People having to drive more in the dark, and kids on the way to and fron school.

hi nightnighthoney.....just a point of interest here. In 1968, after much public pressure, the government relented and cancelled the time change for a year. However, it was reported that in Stornoway in Scotland a lorry didnt see some children on their way to school and ran into them, killing several. This claim has been investigated recently and NO evidence whatsoever has been found. A cover-up maybe?....im trying to find out more but to no avail, does anyone else know about this or remember something??

Well we are now in GMT which is "normal" time for the world, we just left "BST" which is adjusted for whatever reason.....so I think in the war they had "double BST" for sunlight reasons.  Anyway I still get SAD in winter... do you have any more acronyms to throw at this subject?? lol S x
